Our Study Programmes
To assist students in selecting their subjects we have created three categories of subjects that can be used to help guide either a core option of A Level subjects or a mixed option of A Level and BTEC subjects.
Applicants who are offered an interview, will have the opportunity to discuss their choices and make sure they are based on informed decisions that best suit their opportunity for progression.
This means you can tailor your learning based on your individual strengths, passions and aspirations.
STEM
These subjects are science/technology/engineering/maths based and complement each other. Many are prerequisites for higher education courses in these fields.
Certain STEM degrees require specific subjects for entry to undergraduate study:-
- Medical/Veterinary Students - Chemistry (with either Maths, Further Maths, Biology or Physics)
- Engineering students - Must include Maths and Physics
- Psychology (at Russell Group) - Maths or Biology
- Economics - Maths
Classics
These subjects are more specialist, many can combine with STEM subjects for a field of specific study. Some Universities would recommend specific ‘Classic’ subjects for certain undergraduate degrees. Some examples below -
- Politics - requires at least one A Level in either English, History
- English - English Literature or English Literature and Language
- Midwifery - must include a science - biology, chemistry, physics, psychology or sociology
Creative
These subjects are in specific areas that require skills relevant to the topics covered. Can be combined with any of the other subsections for a varied offer.
Foundation to Professional Pathway
This pathway enables students to participate in our Football Academy and gain additional qualifications to allow them to move on to our professional pathway. It gives students the opportunity to continue their progress on a Level 2 course, whilst gaining English and maths GCSE qualifications.
